With the concept of the language used sitting against it is just working out how to apply to the idea.

Northern design competition & HURL COMPETITION

This was the design I sent of to the northern design competition. It was a brief that I was finishing of currently and so I pushed to get the brief finished for the 23rd April. The outcome was succsessful inwhich I felt the desgn worked to  ahigh standard. However i know that the competition will be high with designers in the north.






















I was given the brief to make people go against the internet. This was a difficult challenge as most people now rely on the internet and find it benefit our lives dramatically. I however I felt that as a society our skills in reading and writing and passion for books are weakening and so I decided to go down this route. I developed the brand the writers society and created a brand called ‘ don’t turn to the internet turn the page’.
The writers society brand logo I development has a slash used which stands for a book lent on the logo. The slash is used consistently throughout the campaign. The ‘don’t turn to the internet turn the page’ uses a structured but friendly and warm typeface that is evenly spaced and underlined giving a very basic learning feel to the design but also a contemporary feel. The colours are black and white used throughout to keep the ink on paper feel.

The booklet I created showcases writers opinions on the subject of the internet. The booklet printed on news print gives the feel of a contemporary up to date feel as the internet is constantly updated the writing in a newspaper form gives this feel.
The logo and the brand is consistently used through out but very grided and lined up giving the feel of accuracy writing but in a playful manner.


















































































The mailshot is in the form of a bookmark. The idea is simple but powerful and functional to the reader. The bookmark serves a purpose only with a book and not with the internet.
I then created some envelopes so the reader can write back to confirm their place at the launch or to give opinions on the subject. This encourages people to write and not use the internet for writing skills.




























































The posters used relate to the reader of how clear and easier books are and how negative the internet is. I placed these posters for the campaign in libraries and internet cafes to insure I was communicating to the right audience in the best manner.
The branding is consistent throughout on the posters yet I used the slash and showed the reader the comparisons between the a book and the internet. Using typography skills I could show the internet as bad and books as good form of reading or writing.

Dont turn to teh internet turn the page




























































































These were some tests for the writers society front page test. I put brail on teh front as as found the internet must be poor for blind people who cant feel what is going on and so i wanted to show this on the cover. I will need to look into production values for this and what i need to do to carry out this.
